Driver Qualifications

General

  • Must be at least 23 Years of age
  • Experienced Drivers: Should have one year of recent verifiable tractor-trailer experience (w/in last 5 years)
  • Trainees: You should have at least 2 years of previous verifiable employment
  • No felony convictions
  • Current Class A CDL license in home state
  • Pass a pre-employment DOT physical, drug screen, Human Performance Evaluation, and pre-employment Road Test
  • Must pass all S&H and DOT requirements

Safety

  • No DWI/DUI in the last 5 years
  • No license suspensions in the last five years for a moving violation
  • No more than 3 moving violations in the past 5 years, with no more than 2 in the last 12 months
  • No more than one preventable accident in the last 3 years
  • No reckless or careless driving citations in the last 5 years
  • No rear end collisions in the last 5 years
  • No citations for following too closely in the last 5 years
There is a difference between serious and non-serious violations.
Serious Violations Include...
  • DWI/ DUI
  • Reckless Driving
  • Excessive speeding of 15 mph or more over the limit
  • Improper or erratic lane change
  • Following too closely
  • A violation arising in connection with a fatal accident
  • Driving a CMV without a CDL
  • Driving a CMV without a CDL in your possession
  • Driving a CMV without the proper class of CDL and/or endorsements for the specific vehicle being operated.
